REQUIRED SECURITY TRAINING for Office of Research Staff
Posted by Jody Austin on 26 August 2016 12:47 PM

Information security is one of the most significant challenges we face in the 21st century. Businesses, including academic institutions, are facing an ever-increasing number of threats as cyber-attacks become more complex and evolved. As Ohio State employees, we are on the front lines of protecting the university from threats, and we each have a responsibility to do our part to safeguard sensitive information - be it on our computers, in our desk drawers or in our office filing cabinets.
As part of this effort, all university employees are now required to complete one hour of information security training annually. The Office of the Chief Information Officer has launched an online course “Securing the Human - Office of Research” which provides security awareness training to all faculty and staff members across campus. The BuckeyeLearn course covers the basics of information security and teaches steps you can take to protect yourself and the university.
All Office of Research employees must complete this important, required training by Friday, September 30, 2016. The course is self-paced and should take about 60 minutes to complete. The course will be available via BuckeyeLearn at noon on Thursday, August 25, 2016. To access the course, log in to
If you would prefer to complete the training through an in-person training session, the Office of Research Information Systems will be presenting the Securing the Human videos, followed by a brief assessment, on Thursday, September 22, 2016, from 9am to 11am at 1960 Kenny Road. You can register for this session at
