SPOs can Check and Grant PI Status

1)    Login to the application at PI Status | Office of Research (osu.edu)

2)    At prompt, type in Name, Name.#, or OSU ID number then click “Lookup Investigator” button.

      a. If the person is an active PI, the form will state “The form below shows the current status for the investigator. The table below the form shows a log of all changes made to the status of this individual.”  (Note:  The information listed cannot be changed.)

      b.  If the person is not an active PI, you will see one of two responses.

            i.     For those eligible for PI status:  “This user currently has no investigator status."  Enter information on the form and click “Update User”

ii.     For those not eligible: “This user currently has no investigator status and does not have an eligible student title. Click the table icon in the top left toolbar to see a list of eligible titles.”   Either email Christine Hamble or refer client to https://research.osu.edu/building-your-research-program/becoming-principal-investigator/pi-status-and-research-scientist#PIStatusQualificationsandProcedure
