Removing Temporary Internet Files

Internet Explorer

1. Begin by opening a new window of Internet Explorer. Once it opens, navigate to the "Internet options" window by selecting the gear in the top right part of the window

2. A window will appear with a number of tabs labeled "Internet Options." The window should currently be open to the "General" tab. On this page, locate the browsing history grouping, and select "Delete..."

3. Upon selection, another window will open up with several checkboxes outlining different file groupings. After selecting what files you wish to delete, hit the Delete button at the bottom-left of this window.

4. The window will close signifying that the process was completed successfully

Mozilla Firefox

1. Begin by opening a new window of Mozilla Firefox. Once it opens, navigate to the "History" menu by selecting the menu icon in the top right hand corner of the window, and selecting "History" on the drop down that appears.

2. This menu will then appear beside the current menu. In the upper half of this new menu, locate and select the option labeled "Clear Recent History"

3. A window will open with only the time range of files to clear on first glance. Select options to get a set of checkboxes from which one can pick different files types for deletion. Once selections have been made, select "Clear Now" at the bottom of the page.

4. The window will then automatically close signifying that the process was done successfully

Google Chrome

1. Begin by opening a new window of Google Chrome. Once it opens, navigate to the history page by either hitting Ctrl + H or selecting the menu icon in the top right hand corner and clicking "History"

2. This will cause a tab labeled History to open. On this page, locate and select the button labeled "Clear browsing data..."

3. A pop-up window will now appearing giving you a set of options and a time frame for what files to delete. Once you have selected the types of files you wish to remove, select "Clear browsing data" found in the lower right corner of the window

4. The window will become inoperable for a couple of seconds and will then close out the pop up window. This signifies that the operation was done successfully.

Microsoft Edge


1. Launch your Edge browser and click on the 3-lined Hub button in the top right corner.


2. Next click on the clock-shaped History button. Here you will be able to view your browsing history.


3. If you click on Clear All History and then on Show more, you will be able to delete and clear your browsing History, Cookies, Data, Temporary Internet Files, Cache, etc.


You will see the following items available:


  • Browsing history
  • Cookies and saved website data
  • Cached data and files
  • Download history
  • Form data
  • Passwords
  • Media licenses
  • Pop-up exceptions
  • Location permissions
  • Full screen permissions
  • Compatibility permissions

4. Select the one’s you want to clear and click on the Clear button.


5. Restart your Microsoft Edge browser.
