Go to and login using your OSU Username and password

You will then be required to authenticate using BuckeyePass

Select the authentication method to continue.

The new VPN client should install automatically with all the correct settings.

If you are asked to install the ActiveX Control click Install

If the Java client on your machine is not up to date, you will need to update it.

If the install times out, manually download the client by clicking the link shown on the screen below.

To connect to the VPN client, launch the VPN client shortcut under the Cisco Systems VPN Client folder in the start menu under “All Programs.”

You may also pin this program shortcut to your start menu for easier future access by right-clicking on the VPN client shortcut and selecting “pin to start menu.”

The client will automatically have the connection entry for the Office of Research VPN pre-configured as part of the installation.  Simply click connect.

If it does not have the settings in the text box enter the information below.

Enter your lastname.# , your OSU Password, and BuckeyePass (multi-factor authentication code) to access the VPN.

(NOTE:  The phrase "Second Password" may appear in place of BuckeyePass Method/Code.  In either case enter your BuckeyePass information in this field.)

You will then use the Remote Desktop function on your home PC.  Make sure you know your Computer Name from work.  This is the Service Tag number on the PC.
