Website and Web Application Requirements
Posted by on 20 January 2022 04:23 PM

If you are deploying a new website/web application, complete the Website & Web Application Accessibility Approval Form [MS Word] and return it to the ERIK Accessibility Coordinator at oraccessibility@osu.edu prior to deployment.

All websites and web applications created or built in-house by ERIK employees, or that are being built by third-party vendors on behalf of ERIK and to Ohio State’s specifications:

  1. Must be assessed for risk by the ERIK Digital Accessibility Coordinator.
  2. Must be evaluated by the developer to determine if it meets the university's minimum digital accessibility standards (MDAS).
    • Developers must complete the MDAS Evaluation Protocol [MS Word] document and include it with their approval form.
    • Developers who have not completed their digital accessibility skills training should first contact the ERIK Digital Accessibility Coordinator at oraccessibility@osu.edu for guidance with completing the evaluation.
  3. Depending on the risk level determined by the Digital Accessibility Coordinator, must have a full manual accessibility evaluation from an OSU ADA Certified Evaluator.
  4. Must include the following statement, preferably as the last line in the footer:
If you have a disability and experience difficulty accessing this content, please contact the Accessibility Coordinator

Additionally, if the website or application is being built by a third-party developer, they must agree to accessibility-related contract language. Contact the ERIK Digital Accessibility Coordinator at oraccessibility@osu.edu for further guidance.
